Red & Sensitive Skin
Red & Sensitive Skin
There are many reasons why skin can become red, hence there are many different treatments available. To achieve results it’s recommended to have a professional diagnosis with a skin care therapist to diagnose your skin correctly. (The Skin Fitness Hair & Beauty has an online diagnosis by expert beauty Therapists)
Genetically we can be predisposed to sensitivity, but a sensitive skin is not something we are born with, it is usually something that occurs during our lifetime from internal or outside factors.
We don’t know all the answers to sensitive skin, but we do know there are several different factors at play.
Our skin has a physical protective barrier that protects our body from the penetration of most toxins. Our skins acid mantle is part of this protective barrier.
External factors can be; sun damage, pollution, harsh products. The skin becomes red, allergic, thin, dry, dehydrated, sore, itchy, blotchy, reactive, stings and overall can be very fragile
Internal factors can be; medications, medical treatments, high intake of sugars, excess alcohol, ill health, unhealthy lifestyle, poor nutrition or free radical damage. As our skin ages it can become more sensitive
The cells which drive our immune system to work perfectly, no longer have the ability to do the work they are designed to do. This can also affect the lymphatic system to work effectively to remove toxins.
When cell function is compromised, wound healing slows and allergic reactions accelerate. Conditions such as allergic reactions, psoriasis, dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, alopecia and many more symptoms can be experienced.
